2012 Opening Day
By Justin Whittle of NL Freeride
Marble opened Boxing Day as planned, and I was lucky enough to be there! Since the first NL Freeride ski film premieres dropped in mid-September, I’ve been waiting for Marble and day dreaming about snowstorms!
We loaded our 1st chair at 9:15AM. I was skiing with a friend who recently moved to the area and was skiing Marble for the first time. He was also riding all new gear and was psyched for the day….new gear new mountain! We unloaded, tweaked our boots for the down, and off we went.
That first run of the season is always one of the best. It didn’t matter that we didn’t quite have our ski legs just yet, as we were stoked on finally getting some turns in! We were ahead of the sleepy Christmas crowd and cranked out a solid morning before the majority of folks boarded the lifts.
Kudos to Marble for getting the base laid and making piles of snow. The runs were fast and made for a full day of high speed fun, with the stoke meter rising higher and higher with each passing run!
Thanks Marble for a mach 10 opening….amp’d for deeper days to come in the 2012 season!
